The Holy Spirit || Part 10, Day 1
Luke 3:15-17 NKJV
Now as the people were in expectation, and all reasoned in their hearts about John, whether he was the Christ or not, John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather the wheat into His barn; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire.”
Acts 2:1-4 NKJV
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
I Corinthians 12:1-11 NKJV
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12:7 that the gifts are given for the PROFIT of all. The Greek word for profit there is defined as such, “to gain, to benefit, or lucrative.” In other words, the gifts of the Spirit have been given to make the church profitable and successful in the Great Commission. They have been given to make sure we succeed at the highest level possible on the earth.
Everything the Holy Spirit does in your life, and in the church is to bring profit. Everything He does is to add to you as a child of God. He moves to bring gain, benefit, and to make the church lucrative in every way. Jesus never said, “I am sending the Holy Spirit and He is going to take from here and make things hard on you.” No! He said, “I am sending Him to you, and He will help you!” Some people don’t like that I said the Holy Spirit was given to make the church successful and lucrative to accomplish the Great Commission.
The first miracle Jesus performed is through the workings of miracles. One of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. This miracle was not a healing miracle. Many in the body of Christ thinks that signs and wonders only happen when someone is physically healed from a sickness, disease or infirmity. That does include signs and wonders. However, the first miracle Jesus performed is a miracle of provision. It is a sign and wonder of provision. He takes water and turns it into wine.
In John chapter 2, verse 23 the Bible says that many believe in the Lord Jesus, at the feast of Passover. What caused many to believe in Jerusalem? The miracle, the working of miracles, one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in operation, the water, turning into wine at that wedding, was reported to many in Jerusalem, and many believed on Him at that feast.
