The Gift of Nothing || Day 2

John 1:3 NLT

God created everything through him, and NOTHING was created except through him.

What is the greatest gift that you have ever received?

What was it that made it the greatest gift? You needed it, you desired it, you desperately wanted it, its purpose, its usefulness, the enjoyment it brought, everyone else had it, or no one else had it.

We sometimes base the value of the gift we receive on our desire for it. But what if I can say that one of the greatest gifts that you could ever receive is the direct byproduct of the greatest gift given to us as explained in John 3:16, “God so loved the world that He GAVE His only begotten Son”.

This great gift would be something that would confuse us and we would ultimately complain about it if it was given to us to unwrap. I guarantee that you would look at me funny when holding this gift in your hands. But the truth is that this gift does not need to be wrapped or unwrapped. This gift simply just needs to be recognized and embraced, because what you do not recognize you will never acknowledge.

Once you recognize the value of this gift, you will do everything in your power to never lose it.

What is this gift that I'm talking about? It is "The Gift of NOTHING".

NOTHING as a gift would seem meaningless, cruel, humiliating, discouraging, confusing, frustrating, and even instigating to receive. But what if I was to say that one of the greatest gifts that you could receive is the Gift of NOTHING.

Defined, NOTHING means…

Not anything, no single thing (NO-THING), of no value, not at all, none of anything, not a bit, absence of attendance.

So the ultimate question must be answered, is nothing actually something?

I believe that NOTHING is actually something; I believe it truly is one of the greatest things that God gives us as His children.
