The Gift of Nothing || Day 4

Luke 24:1-12 NIV

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’” Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

1 Timothy 6:7 NIV

For we brought NOTHING into the world, and we can take NOTHING out of it.

That day those women went looking for a body, but what they were originally searching for was not there. They were looking for the living amongst the dead.... they were looking for life in dead places and in dead things. They found “NOTHING” in the tomb. However what they found forever changed their lives and our lives. The Father gave us the Gift of Nothing and it was delivered by Jesus.

Philippians 2:6-8 says, “Who, being in very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself NOTHING by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!”

Nothing is expensive and was paid by Jesus on the cross and then He was wrapped in the tomb - "Nothing" was there. The cross was simply a tool that God would use to pry open the hands of hell that had gripped mankind. The purpose of the cross was to rescue mankind, but the product of the cross was the restoration of mankind

The purpose of the resurrection was not for God, but for man.

The purpose of the resurrection was not to rescue Jesus from death or even to release Him from the grave, but instead to reveal the restoration of all mankind.

Jesus did not need the stone removed to get out, He removed the stone so that we could get in and find the empty tomb was filled with NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING!

NO-THING was in that tomb that could stop us any further from becoming who God created us to be "sons and daughters", there was NO REGRET, NO SHAME, NO SICKNESS, NO PAST, NO FAILURES, NO MISTAKES, NO BEHAVIOR, and NO SIN… all the things that have tried to discourage you, depress you, deflate you, destroy you… ARE NOT HERE!!!

The price has been paid in full so that the “Gift of NOTHING” could be left for all men to find.

That is what the angels were truly stating, “What you are looking for is not here."

You are looking for death, you are looking for disappointment, you are still looking for something, but open up your eyes, open up your hearts, open up your minds and realize that what should be here is not.. THERE IS NOTHING HERE!

The life you are looking for, the life you are longing for is in Jesus alone. Find Him and you will find the life you desire. But from now on NOTHING can stop you.

Thank God for His gift of NOTHING!
