Unshakable: Part 1 || Day 5

Psalm ‭101:1-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬
"I will sing of your love and justice, Lord. I will praise you with songs. I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home. I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them. I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil. I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride. I will search for faithful people to be my companions. Only those who are above reproach will be allowed to serve me. I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence. My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked and free the city of the Lord from their grip."

Last time we were together, we began with the first part of this truth: Unshakable people guard their gates and examine their relationships and associations.

1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Do not be deceived: ‘Evil company corrupts good habits.’”

Beloved, it is very difficult to live a life that is unshakable while you are surrounded by people who are being shaken.

There are three types of people that we must work very hard to remove away from us. It really doesn’t matter how strong you are or how committed you are to the Lord—if these people are closely associated with you, they will begin to pull you down.

First, jealous people. Proverbs 27:4 says, “Anger is cruel, and wrath is like a flood, but jealousy is even more dangerous.”

The problem with jealousy is that most of the time it camouflages itself as being your biggest fan. The reason for that is because it fuels itself by being close to you.

The second group are wicked people. There’s a difference between lost people and wicked people. Both are on their way to hell. However, wicked people have made up their mind that they want nothing to do with God and secondly, they will do their very best to draw you away from God. These types of people hate your God and hate what you stand for.

The third group are offended people. I have never seen a spirit that is more contagious than the spirit of offense. When someone is offended, we can try to talk with them or help them. But if they have made up their mind they are not going to listen—back away. Refuse to allow that spirit to connect itself to you.
