Jesus The… || Part 3, Day 3

John 1:29-34

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.” And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”

The baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is so we can have the same love as Jesus.

Before the baptism in the Holy Ghost, the disciples were not showing true love for one another. As a matter of fact, several times Jesus would tell them He was going to the cross to be killed. And several times they would begin to argue over who would be the greatest after He was dead.

Before the Holy Ghost they would look down on people. When they saw Jesus speaking with the Samaritan woman, they wondered why He was talking with her. When the woman came in and broke the alabaster box over his head, they were indignant. Peter denies Jesus in His most trying time on this earth. Thomas is upset and won’t come back to church.

But when they received the Holy Ghost and fire, they didn’t just receive power to do works, they received power to love like Christ. Operating in the power of God without embracing the love of God is what creates mean, religious people.
